Meghan Markle marked her mother Doria Ragland’s birthday with a touching social media tribute, giving fans a rare glimpse of their close bond.
On September 2, the Duchess of Sussex posted a boomerang on Instagram Stories showing herself planting a kiss on her mom’s cheek while grinning ear to ear.
The short clip was decorated with pink hearts and a caption that read: “Happy Birthday to my beautiful mom!” set to Stevie Wonder’s iconic track Happy Birthday.
Meghan and Doria have always shared a deep connection. When Meghan was young, her mom affectionately nicknamed her “Flower,” a detail she once revealed on her former blog The Tig.
Over the years, Ragland has been by her daughter’s side for milestone moments, from the 2018 royal wedding to the birth of Prince Archie in 2019.
Daniel Martin, Meghan’s close friend and longtime makeup artist, has said the Duchess “draws a lot of strength from her mother,” praising Ragland’s confidence and warmth.
Ragland previously opened up in the Netflix docuseries Harry & Meghan, admitting the last five years had been “challenging” but also recalling her joy when Meghan first told her she was dating Prince Harry.
