Meghan Markle is reportedly “fuming” over the level of admiration the British public has for Kate Middleton, according to one of her former friends.
The Duchess of Sussex, 44, has been living in California since stepping back from royal duties in 2020, but during her time in the UK, she became all too aware of the stark difference in public opinion between herself and the Princess of Wales.
In YouGov’s most recent popularity ranking of royal family members, Kate, 43, came in second overall, while Meghan was placed near the bottom, only ranking above Prince Andrew.
Model-turned-presenter Lizzie Cundy, who befriended Meghan in 2013 after meeting at a London event, claimed to the Daily Mail that Meghan has never been able to accept Kate’s popularity.
“She’s fuming how the public love Kate,” Cundy alleged. “She needs to stop being bitter, stop being angry and stop being ‘poor me.’”
Cundy also criticized Meghan’s Netflix series With Love, Meghan, which just launched its second season.
She suggested the duchess should “stop pretending” and simply “be who she is” if she wants to win people over.
