Mark Walters, the director behind two of Lindsay Lohan’s breakthrough roles, has opened up about being excluded from the sequel as well discussing what The Parent Trap actress was like when she was younger.

The 61-year-old was asked about Freakier Friday, which is written by Jordan Weiss and directed by Nisha Ganatra, and if he wanted to be a part of it, to which he surprisingly agreed.

In an interview with Variety, the reporter asked if he had attempted to reprise his role, to which the Mean Girls director replied, “I did raise my hand and say I’d love to be involved somehow, even in a kind of godfather aspect or executive producer. But I was not extended an invitation.”

The producer also said that a few cast members had reached out to him, saying that they had not forsaken him and missed his presence.

Elsewhere in the conversation, Waters remarked on Lohan and her mindset when she was just a teenager.

“Back when she was younger, she definitely was into the lure of celebrity and fame and everything that went along with that. So she didn’t seek out the best projects,” the Vampire Academy director noted, referring to the Rumors singer.

Notably, Waters did hint that a future collaboration between him and the 39-year-old was possible, since the two had talked about being open to it at an event.

When was Freakier Friday released?
