Corey Mylchreest recently opened up about his audition for the role of Flynn Rider in Disney’s live-action Tangled.
In conversation with Seventeen, the 27-year-old actor admitted that he thought of himself as ‘perfect’ for the role.
However, Corey added that his audition did not go well, “it wasn’t very good. They then told me that they wanted someone with singing experience,” he said.
The Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story lead further joked, “When they realised they didn’t want me, they scrapped the project.”
Netizens rushed to X (formerly Twitter) to express their sentiments about the news. One fan wrote, “Corey would’ve made a charming Flynn Rider.” Another commented, “I wanted to see the live action of this one.”
Notably, in December 2024, Disney announced a live-action remake of Tangled following Gal Gadot’s Snow White premiere.
Director Michael Gracey was chosen to lead the project alongside scriptwriter Jennifer Kaytin Robinson.
But due to the negative box office result of Snow White, the producers cancelled the untitled Tangled film.
Previously, Jonathan Bailey and Milo Manheim were rumoured to have joined the cast of the live-action movie, including Florence Pugh and Sabrina Carpenter, for the role of Rapunzel.
There have been speculations about the project getting picked up again because of Lilo and Stitch's box office success, but Disney has not yet confirmed the reports.
Meanwhile, fans of Corey Mylchreest can watch his charming performance in Netflix’s latest film, My Oxford Year.
