Sofia Carson, Corey Mylchreest star in new rom-com movie, ‘My Oxford Year’

Latin-American actress Sofia Carson and British breakout star Corey Mylchreest are collaborating in a new Netflix romantic comedy based on Julia Whelan's novel.

The movie, My Oxford Year, revolves around two lovers, Anna and Jamie, whose lives are changed when they cross paths at Oxford University.

With different approaches to life, Anna is a studious planner from New York City, while Jamie, a charming and clever local who lives a more spontaneous life, forms a profound bond with her over their shared love of poetry.

Carson and Mylchreest bring an ethereal onscreen chemistry reminiscent of the classical rom-com.

The Disney breakout star, Carson, said she was already a big fan of Mylchreest from his role as King George in Netflix’s Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story.

“I just thought he was so magnetic and such an exciting actor,” Carson told PEOPLE.

Furthermore, sharing his thoughts about Carson, the Netflix period drama star told the outlet that Carson was a “calming presence” during their first meeting, perfectly matching her character.

"She’s superior, she’s perfect,” he said of the actress.

Carson is also an executive producer of the movie.

My Oxford Year will stream on Netflix on August 1.
