WWE is taking its storytelling beyond the wrestling ring as stars Drew McIntyre, Joe Hendry and Jacob Fatu prepare to lead a brand-new live-action microdrama.

The sports entertainment giant has teamed up with ReelShort, one of the biggest names in vertical video content, for an original series that will also feature actors Marc Herrmann and Chase Mattson.

Filming is set to begin next month, with the project expected to premiere later this year.

Ben Houser, WWE's head of original content and development, said the partnership would introduce fans to a fresh style of entertainment while expanding WWE's reach to a new audience.

He also hinted that more WWE superstars are expected to join the cast.

The role marks another exciting step for Scottish wrestler McIntyre, who has been building an acting career alongside his WWE success.

After making his film debut as assassin Rory Mackenzie in 2024's The Killer's Game, McIntyre has continued to land major roles.

He recently wrapped filming on the Highlander reboot, where he plays the brother of Henry Cavill's Connor MacLeod, and is now working on fantasy film The Last Druid.

Meanwhile, Hendry and Fatu are preparing to make one of their biggest acting appearances yet as ReelShort looks to attract a broader audience with the WWE collaboration.

ReelShort executive Sammie Hao said modern brand partnerships are about creating entertainment that audiences genuinely enjoy and share, rather than simply placing products on screen.

The move continues WWE's growing Hollywood success, following the paths carved out by Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, John Cena and Dave Bautista.

Later this year, Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns will also make the jump to the big screen with roles in the upcoming live-action Street Fighter film.
