Anthony Ippolito is stepping into one of Hollywood's most iconic roles.
Amazon MGM Studios has unveiled the first look at I Play Rocky, the upcoming biographical drama that tells the story behind the making of the 1976 classic Rocky. In the film, Ippolito transforms into a young Sylvester Stallone as he fights to bring his passion project to the big screen.
The movie follows Stallone's journey from struggling actor to Hollywood star after writing Rocky and refusing to sell the script unless he was cast as the lead. Despite repeated rejection from studios, he remained determined to play Rocky Balboa himself.
The newly released footage also offers a glimpse at the supporting cast, with Stephan James portraying Carl Weathers, Matt Dillon playing Stallone's father Frank Stallone Sr., and AnnaSophia Robb starring as Stallone's first wife, Sasha Czack. The teaser is set to the legendary Rocky theme, paying tribute to the film that launched Stallone's career.
According to the official synopsis, I Play Rocky tells the story of "an unknown actor with an unshakable belief" that he wasn't just meant to write Rocky but also destined to play its unforgettable hero.
Ippolito is no stranger to portraying famous figures. He previously played Al Pacino in Paramount+'s The Offer, which explored the making of *The Godfather*.
The film is directed by Peter Farrelly, whose Oscar-winning *Green Book* took home Best Picture in 2019. I Play Rocky is set to hit theaters on Nov. 6 and is already being tipped as a potential awards contender.
Although Stallone initially said he had "zero" involvement with the project, Farrelly later revealed that the actor read the script and ultimately gave the film his approval before production moved forward.
