Star Wars fans won't have to wait much longer to bring Grogu home. Disney has confirmed that The Mandalorian and Grogu will arrive on digital platforms on July 21 less than two months after its theatrical debut.
The film which premiered in cinemas on May 22 will be available for purchase on Prime Video, Apple TV, Fandango and other digital platforms. A 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray release will follow on August 25.
The home release comes packed with exclusive bonus content including behind-the-scenes featurettes that explore the making of fan-favourite Grogu.
One feature reveals that it takes six puppeteers working together to operate the beloved character each controlling different movements such as his ears, eyelids and expressions.
"We wanted to push the limitations of Grogu," Filoni said describing the character as "a great little actor."
Lead star Pedro Pascal who returns as Din Djarin praised the special effects team responsible for bringing Grogu to life.
"Grogu and the Legacy team, as a collective, are the most organic scene partners that anyone could wish for," Pascal said.
Newcomer Sigourney Weaver who joins the Star Wars universe as Colonel Ward admitted she quickly fell in love with the tiny character.
"I am in love with Grogu. You cannot help but fall in love with that little face," she said joking that she'd happily provide Grogu's signature sounds "for free."
Set after the fall of the Galactic Empire The Mandalorian and Grogu follows Din Djarin and Grogu on a mission to rescue Rotta the Hutt in exchange for valuable information about a dangerous target.
Alongside Pascal and Weaver the film also features voice performances from Jeremy Allen White and Martin Scorsese.
