Michael Jackson biopic gave a serious blow to critics as the movie becomes the first biopic to cross $1 billion.

Jaafar Jackson starred in the film, portraying his uncle Michael and reviving his legacy for all the generations.

The 29-year-old actor was tagged in a post by the official page of the biopic which celebrated the achievement.

Expressing immense gratitude towards all those who supported, the update gushed about the admirers who “bought a ticket, sang along, dressed up, and returned to the big screen again and again.”

The online community joined in the celebration with an admirer recalling the “King of Pop” saying: “I’ll see you in July” in 2009.

According to the netizen, the legendary singer “found a way to keep that promise all these years later, by making history yet again.”

The project was directed by Antoine Fuqua where Jaafar made his acting debut, nailing the dance steps and expressions.

The movie opened with a massive $97 million locally while garnering $217 million from around the world after its release on April 24, 2026.

Are critics supporting Michael biopic?

Despite massive support from fans, critics were not content with the project and gave an extremely low score, slamming it due to the controversies of the past.

Michael revived the craze for the singer’s discography as new fans join in, continuously streaming songs like Billie Jean, Smooth Criminal and Bad.
