The movie was released on April 24 in all theaters and has gained the title of the biggest domestic opening day for a biopic in film history.

Notably, the ratings from the critics went as low as 40%, while the ratings from the admirers concluded to a perfect 97% Popcornmeter score.
The character of the legend is played by Jaafar Jackson, who is the son of Jermaine Jackson and the nephew of the late crooner.
This biopic is also marked as the 29-year-old's first acting project as he starred as his Uncle, and apart from that he has interest in music as he released his debut single, Got Me Singing, in 2019.
