In surprising news, actresses Anna Faris and Regina Hall are set to make a return to the Scream franchise for the Wayans Brothers restart.
The pair said in a statement, “We can’t wait to bring Brenda and Cindy back to life and be reunited with our great friends Keenen, Shawn and Marlon — three men we’d literally die for (in Brenda’s case, again).”
The Wayans brothers are reuniting after 18 years to write an original new script for the upcoming film, also bringing in Rick Alvarez.
It is set for an October production run, with the aim of having a theatrical release of June 12, 2025 via Paramount.
The original franchise grossed approximately $900 million, coming from the minds of Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans and Keenen Ivory Wayans.
The first two starred in and wrote the first two films, while the latter directed them and will be returning as producer.
The upcoming film will be the 6th in the franchise, with Michael Tiddes directing. He has directed three other films for the brothers including A Haunted House and the Netflix flicks, Naked and S**tuplets.
This seems like an apt point in time for the horror parody franchise to make a return, since the film industry is currently ripe with new horror releases.
