Matt Reeves surprised his fans with an exciting update about his next directorial project, The Batman Part II.
According to Deadline, a letter to Warner Bros. Discovery’s shareholders noted that the second instalment of the film will start filming in the spring of next year.
Additionally, the CEO of WBD confirmed that James Gunn is already preparing to write the next film about the Super family, referring to Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.
Notably, Batman Part II was initially scheduled to be filmed in 2025, but it suffered delays along the way, forcing the production company to halt the project.
Gunn confirmed that the reason for the delay was the incomplete script. He explained, “Once there is a finished script, there is around two years for pre-production, shooting, and post-production on big films.”
However, on June 27, Reeves confirmed he had finished the script of the movie, and the DC Studios co-head said it was “great”.
The film will continue from the events of Batman, which came out in 2022, where The Joker was introduced, hinting at the possibility of a future film with him as the main villain.
Directed by Matt Reeves, Batman stars include Robert Pattinson, Zoë Kravitz, Paul Dano, and Colin Farrell. Though the main cast of the second part hasn’t been confirmed yet, Pattinson will reprise his role as the Dark Knight.
While fans eagerly wait for the Gotham City superhero to hit theatres in 2027, they can watch Matt Reeves's The Penguin, which is a spin-off of Batman.
For the unversed, The Batman Part II is scheduled to release on October 1, 2027.
