Princess Anne made a one-day official visit to Ireland this week, underscoring her longstanding commitment to fostering UK-Ireland relations, and her lifelong passion for horses.
The Princess Royal, 74, was welcomed to Áras an Uachtaráin in Dublin on Wednesday by Irish President Michael D. Higgins and his wife, Sabina.
The visit included a private conversation between the two dignitaries, marking a continuation of their warm diplomatic rapport.
President Higgins later released a statement expressing his appreciation: “It was a pleasure to renew my conversations with Her Royal Highness Princess Anne, The Princess Royal, and to recognise the significant contribution which she has made over so many years to the relationship between our two countries,” he said.
“I further took the opportunity to extend my best wishes to His Majesty King Charles and to recall his unwavering support for peace and reconciliation.”
Princess Anne's next stop was the 150th Dublin Horse Show at the Royal Dublin Society, a fitting venue given her deep equestrian roots.
During her visit, she toured a commemorative exhibition and presented rosettes to winners in the Small Hunters category.
She also met with members of Festina Lento, a non-profit organization providing riding instruction and equine-assisted therapy, a cause close to the Princess’s heart.
