King Charles is reportedly determined to resolve the Prince Andrew scandal once and for all, before handing over the throne to his eldest son, Prince William.
Royal expert Phil Dampier told Hello! Magazine that the King’s “main priority” is to ensure his brother’s controversies are “tied up” so William won’t inherit the fallout when he becomes monarch.
“I think the main priority will have been to clear this up once and for all, and draw a line under it before William becomes King,” Dampier explained.
“They don’t like loose ends.”
The comments come amid reports that Andrew and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson have agreed to vacate their long-time home, Royal Lodge, after mounting outrage over revelations that they paid just a “peppercorn rent” for the 30-room mansion.
A royal source told The Sun: “Andy is realistic and knows the writing is on the wall. It’s a fresh start for both of them.”
