Sarah Ferguson

Sarah Ferguson-Duchess of York

Sarah Ferguson, also known as Fergie, is a famous British author and philanthropist.

She was married to Prince Andrew, Duke of York, the second son of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip. Sarah attended Queen’s Secretarial College before she became part of the British royal family.

Sarah exchanged vows with Prince Andrew in a grand royal wedding on July 23, 1986, at Westminster Abbey. Following their marriage, she was granted the Royak title of the Duchess of York. The couple are parents to two daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie.

However, Sarah and Andrew faced many challenges during their marital life. Due to Duke of York’s long absences from home because of his navy duties and constant media attention, their relationship began to suffer. After six years of marriage, Sarah and Andrew separated in 1992 and officially divorced in 1996. Even after their divorce, Sarah and Andrew have stayed close friends and continue to co-parent their daughters.

In recent years, Sarah has faced serious health issues. In 2023, she was diagnosed with breast cancer and had a single mastectomy. Later, in 2024, she was also diagnosed with melanoma, a type of skin cancer, found during a routine check. Now 65 years old, Sarah says she doesn’t want to be called a sufferer but a fighter.

Sarah is also known for her charity work. She supports many causes, including Teenage Cancer Trust, and runs her own foundation, Sarah’s Trust, helping NHS staff, care workers, and hospitals.
