Princess Beatrice has extended an invitation to her parents amid rising tensions.
The former couple, Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, who got divorced in 1996, lost their royal titles owing their ties to convicted felon Jeffrey Epstein.
As the royal family is navigating their association with the former couple, this new event will cement new dynamics.
Beatrice had a daughter earlier this year who is due to be christened this week and the former Duke and Duchess of York secured an invitation as the grand parents.
As per Daily Mail, the former pair will attend the christening of their granddaughter, Athena Mapelli Mozzi, at the Chapel Royal at St. James's Palace on Friday, December 12.
Given the hostile sentiments against Andrew for his grave accusations, it will be a tense environment.
“It's going to be a royal occasion, but everyone is dreading the thought of seeing Andrew there,” the source reported.
The source added “Beatrice has, of course, invited her father. But things are not warm between them.”
While the royal couple lost their titles, King Charles ensured that the two princesses, Beatrice and Eugenie, would retain theirs and keep working as they did.
