Sarah Ferguson’s future is clouded with uncertainty as she prepares to leave Royal Lodge next year, but a resurfaced comment she made about the late Queen Elizabeth II has now raised eyebrows.
The former Duchess of York, who has lived at the Windsor estate with Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor since 2008, is set to be removed from the property following the latest fallout over her and Andrew’s connections to Jeffrey Epstein.
With her public role diminished, attention has also turned to the fate of the late Queen’s beloved corgis, Sandy and Muick. The dogs have been living with Sarah and Andrew since September 2022, and while Buckingham Palace has insisted they will “stay within the family,” it remains unclear whether Sarah will be able to remain as their primary caretaker.
At the Creative Women Platform Forum in London, Sarah spoke fondly about her bond with the corgis, making a striking claim about their behaviour.
She told the audience: "I have her dogs. I have her corgis. Every morning they come in and go 'woof woof' and all that, and I'm sure it's her talking to me. I'm sure it's her, reminding me she's still around."
Amid laughter, she went on: "Anyway, the real thing is that I had the greatest honour to be her daughter-in-law. That's pretty huge.
“And when I was driving here, I saw the Elizabeth Line [on the Tube] and I said, 'I want everyone to remember what an amazing lady she was.'"
