The Simpsons has shocked fans with an unexpected plot twist in the Season 36 finale episode of the show.
The American animated sitcom series has remained fan favorite since its debut on December 17, 1989 and the show has barely killed off any character since then.
The episode featuring a scene based in the future depicted the death of a key cast and core family member, Marge Simpons.
Though the episode was aired a month ago on May 18, a sudden debate has initiated regarding the unexpected development that shocked fans.
Fans took to Reddit to share their reactions, as one wrote, “It’s time to put the show to rest.”
Another asked, “Has she died and is it in the future?” (Marge’s death is in a flash forward episode). The third one expressed, “They can’t kill off Marge! She’s important to the show.”
It remains unclear that will Marge die in the next season or was it just a hook for attention grabbing to keep the audience on their heels, however, one thing’s clear that The Simpsons, even after 790 episodes, isn’t going anywhere.

In April, Fox announced that the show has been renewed for its 40th season and it’ll continue till 2029.
