Wonder Woman fans are buzzing right now after years of uncertainty about the big screen return of their favourite superhero.
DC Studios co-chairman and co-CEO James Gunn recently talked to Entertainment Weekly to share some exciting updates about the best fighter in the DC Universe.
“We’re working on Wonder Woman. Wonder Woman‘s being written right now,” the 58-year-old said.
The director also clarified that the project is “a separate thing” from the upcoming HBO Max series Paradise Lost, which is set on Wonder Woman’s home planet, Themyscira.
However, Gunn did not clarify whether the movie would be the next instalment in the Patty Jenkins franchise with Gal Gadot or whether it would be a complete reboot with a different actress.
The announcement confirms what was previously said by Warner Bros Discovery executives that Gunn's DC Universe will revolve around Batman, Superman, Supergirl and Wonder Woman.
Wonder Woman 1984 had a budget of $200 million and grossed approximately $170 million at the global box office.
Released in December 2020, the movie's box office performance suffered due to pandemic lockdowns and its simultaneous streaming release on HBO Max.
