HBO Max is set to launch in 12 additional countries this July, including Cyprus and several Baltic states.
The expansion means that the streaming service is now available in 89 territories in 43 languages.
The announcement came as Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) executives took the stage at the annual New Europe Market (NEM) conference in Dubrovnik, where they prioritised discussing the streamer’s expansion over the implications of WBD’s impending split into two separate companies—Streaming & Studios and Global Networks.
Jamie Cooke, EVP & GM for Central Eastern Europe and MEA, stressed the importance of partnerships with pay-TV operators and telecoms, particularly in competitive markets where standalone streaming services struggle.
“Launching alone in crowded markets isn’t ideal for consumers—there are too many options, and not all will survive,” Cooke said.
While some regions, like Turkey, can sustain local productions, Cooke noted that global hits such as House of the Dragon and The Last of Us remain crucial drivers for HBO Max’s international growth.
HBO Max launched in May 2020 in the United States and was later rebranded as Max. However, in May 2025, its parent company announced it would revert to the original name.
