Ryan Gosling has dropped out of Universal Pictures’ untitled film by The Daniels due to scheduling issues.

Based on latest key findings, the actor was previously in talks to lead the project, but timing issues ultimately made his involvement unworkable.

As per Variety, the production was unable to align Gosling’s availability with its planned summer shoot in Los Angeles, despite securing a California tax credit and moving forward on a fixed production timeline.

“While no specific reason has been officially cited, Gosling's recent professional commitments appear to have played a key role.”

The actor’s schedule has been shaped by ongoing commitments, including the success of Project Hail Mary, which has earned over $300 million worldwide since its March 20 release, as well as completion of filming on Star Wars: Starfighter.

Details surrounding the film’s plot remain tightly guarded. The Daniels are set to produce alongside Jonathan Wang under their Playgrounds banner as part of their overall agreement with Universal.

The project continues to move forward toward its planned theatrical release on November 19, 2027, with casting adjustments expected as development progresses.
