Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter made an exciting announcement at the Tony Awards this year, that the star-studded duo was preparing to hit the stage later this year.
The two, who first starred alongside each other in the Bill & Ted trilogy films, confirmed that they would share the spotlight once again for a revival of the most influential plays of the Modern era, Waiting for Godot.
The John Wick actor is set to play Estragon and the Smosh: The Movie star will represent his counterpart Vladimir in the drama written by Samuel Beckett.
In an interview with People magazine on Sunday, June 8, Alex stated that the roles were fitting, since him and Keanu have been friends ever since their first acting gig together.
Alex noted that it was "a play about two people who have known each other a very long time. ... And Keanu had this crazy, inspired idea that suddenly turned into reality, for both of us."
The 59-year-old went on, "I think every time the play is done, it's different, because of who's playing it. It's very, very personal, and so we're bringing ourselves to it."
Notably, Waiting for Godot would mark Keanu’s Broadway debut, following a successful film career.
The play is set to commence preview performances on September 13, at Broadway's Hudson Theatre.
