Sam Levinson has reflected on early Euphoria development, revealing initial ideas to scale back nudity shifted after discussions with Sydney Sweeney.
During his latest chat, the filmmaker recalled suggesting alternatives to shoot around nudity, but mentioned that the actress pushed back the idea.
On the New York Times Popcast, the writer-director said the actress responded, “Are you kidding? It’s like, I’m playing an OnlyFans model. You’re telling me you’re going to, like, skirt around it?”
Meanwhile, he backed her perspective, describing her as deeply committed to the role and commending her professionalism and risk taking nature.
Moreover, he backed the filming approach, noting that actors work more effectively in a supportive environment on set.
On the other hand, she responded to online criticism by sharing behind-the-scenes photos and writing, "It’s called… acting," after viewers described the scenes as excessive.
