Scott Pelley, who has been associated with 60 Minutes for over two decades, was dramatically dismissed by CBS News.
The 68-year-old was fired from his position after he got in to a heated argument with the new executive producer Nick Bilton.
The situation concluded with Scott being laid off after the 49-year-old accused the star of “ambush,” “hostility” and “misconduct” in a termination letter.
The letter, signed by both the parties, concludes that the employee has “been terminated for cause effectively immediately.”
According to the executive producer, the author has displayed “no interest in contributing to the future success of the show.”
The problem sparked after a staff meeting turned tense at 60 minutes as reported by The New York Times and The Guardian.
It was reported that when Nick appreciated News editor-in-chief Bari Weiss for adoring the broadcast, the former employee jumped in and argued: “She’s murdering 60 Minutes.”
Scott claimed that Bari was hired to “kill it and is doing exactly that,” debating that the changes by the editor has been “catastrophic” at the Evening News.
In a telephonic interview with the outlet, he highlighted his contributions to the show and all the risks he took, including reporting from war zones and combat areas while risking his own life.
