American Idol alum CJ Harris dies at 31 due to heart attack

CJ Harris, who competed in the 2014 season of American Idol, has died. He was 31.

The family told TMZ that the late singer “suffered an apparent heart attack” on Sunday, Jan. 15.

He was rushed to a local hospital in Jasper, Alabama where he breathed his last.

Harris constantly blew away judges on American Idol for his soulful voice and incredible guitar skills.

Judge Keith Urban told CJ, "You sing 'cause you have to sing, not 'cause you want to sing. And, I mean that in the deepest way. And, that's why it's so believable and real."

Harris finished sixth in the singing show, after getting a wild card entry by the judges in the semi-final.
