Olivia Rodrigo gushes over 'really sweet and personal' letter from Taylor Swift

Emerging singer Olivia Rodrigo went from fangirling about Pop Culture’s queen Taylor Swift to receiving handwritten notes from her. Within a few months, after many comparisons made by the fans between the two songwriters writing styles, Taylor has taken a liking for the 18-year-old singer.

Olivia and Taylor had never met before until their stars crossed each other on the 2021 Brit Awards night. However, prior to their meeting, Olivia had received a powerful personal and congratulatory handwritten note and a ring from You Need To Calm Down singer.

While talking to Billboard, the Driver’s Licence singer gushed about her idol and biggest musical influence Taylor and shared that the global icon award winner wrote to her some great advice along with words of encouragement.

“I don’t want to divulge too much because it’s really sweet and personal,” she told Billboard. “But she talks a lot about how, I think, you make your own luck in the world. And when you do kind things to others, good things come your way.”

“I don’t know, she put it so eloquently, and when I say it now.… it’s not as cool,” she added.

In a recent interview with NME, she confessed that she has been a dedicated swiftie since she was a 5-year-old kid. Olivia went on to sing praises for the singer and said:

“I think she’s the best songwriter of all time, but she’s so business-savvy and she really cares about her career in that regard too – that’s been really inspiring for me to watch somebody take control of their career and their life like that.”

The two even managed to get a picture of themselves backstage on the award night.
