Sorry Not Sorry singer Demi Lovato apologized after facing a backlash for chastising a small local yoghurt shop— The Bigg Chill.

Demi took issue with their abundance of sugar-free options. She wrote to her millions of followers that the famous treat shop is giving in to a “diet culture”.

After her comment, the singer received a massive backlash on the internet for bullying a small business. To rectify the situation, Demi went live on her Instagram to address the issue and explain how her words were misconstrued.

"I'm sorry that I may have got the messaging wrong. I'm sorry that I may have disappointed some people," she began the video with an apology.

The Dancing With The Devil songstress has always been open about her struggles with an eating disorder. She delved into detail about the incident and why it was triggering for her in hopes that her fans will understand her perspective on the issue.

"People with eating disorders should be able to go in and feel safe wherever they go to eat," she went on. "When I messaged this froyo place, originally I wanted to make a point, and I wanted to call out behaviours or branding things that didn't sit right with me.”

"As someone who deals with an eating disorder and is in recovery from an eating disorder, I still to this day have a hard time walking into a froyo shop, ordering yoghurt and being content with it and keeping it down."

After delivering her thoughts in a coherent form, Demi said that "I know that seems like not a huge deal to a lot of people, but to me it is.”

“Y’all know me, I get pretty feisty and sometimes my emotions get the best of me. It never comes from a place of hate, it’s always coming from a place of love.”

The shop replied to her message earlier to explain that the diet-free options are specifically for diabetics, vegans and people with Celiac disease. Demi, however, felt that they must “do better” and "find a way to provide an inviting environment for all people with different needs. Including eating disorders."

In the end, Demi concluded by apologizing for jumping to a conclusion but still asked the company to send their message across in a more effective way. On her part, she said will “listen and try to understand in how I can be a better support for all communities."
