Demi Lovato recalls Martin Luther King Jr.'s civil rights movement in new post

Demi Lovato, who has been quite vocal on politics and civil rights for a few years now, is supporting change in yet another social media post.

Taking to her Instagram on Monday, the singer reposted a picture from the author, Glennon Doyle talking about civil rights injustices affecting her family.

"This post has a ton of great accounts to follow, please check them out and continue to educate yourself. Repost from @glennondoyle: “This is my sister and her family outside of their Virginia home today," captioned Lovato.

The caption continued with a text from Doyle, explaining her story.

“I think a good way to stand with MLK Jr today is to spend some time researching and following leaders who are working in the civil rights movement of now. Statistically, white people like to venerate civil rights leaders when they are dead. We do not generally stand with them while they are living and demanding change to the status quo."

The caption then went onto guide citizens towards an action plan.

"If we want to push forward and honor the Reverend’s sacred legacy of “the urgency of now” let’s stand with and for our civil rights leaders of today. As you do your research, may I suggest starting with Black women?”
