Andrew Cuomo all set to receive Emmy Award for daily COVID-19 updates

On Friday, it was announced by International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences that Andrew Cuomo would be receiving the Emmy Award for his daily briefings regarding the coronavirus.

As per the Academy, the efforts of New York Governor would be acknowledged. "His leadership during the Covid-19 pandemic and his masterful use of television to inform and calm people around the world" the Academy stated on Monday.

"The governor's 111 daily briefings worked so well because he effectively created television shows, with characters, plot lines, and stories of success and failure,” Bruce Paisner who is CEO and president of the Academy said in his statement.

"People around the world tuned in to find out what was going on, and New York tough became a symbol of the determination to fight back,” he added.
