Lucy Liu has revealed a chilling health ordeal that left her “petrified”.
The 57-year-old actress recalled the terrifying moment back in the 1990s when she discovered a lump in her breast.
Without proper tests like a mammogram or ultrasound, a doctor allegedly examined her briefly and declared it cancer.
“I didn’t really think too much about it,” Lucy admitted, adding that the lack of online information at the time made the situation even more frightening.
The Charlie’s Angels actress trusted the diagnosis and rushed into surgery, despite a friend urging her to seek a second opinion.
“I thought, ‘What’s the point? The doctor knows what they’re talking about,’” she confessed.
But the real shock came after the operation as the lump was completely non-cancerous.
The Elementary actress has no regrets, instead calling the ordeal a turning point.
“It was the beginning of understanding how to advocate for myself,” she explained, insisting she chooses growth over dwelling on the past.
Now, Lucy is using her experience to send a powerful message, urging people, especially women, to prioritise their health and get properly screened.
“It’s not just about fixing something — it’s about understanding and having information,” she said, warning that many avoid check-ups out of fear or busy schedules.
Her message is clear that early screening can be lifesaving.
“If you can work out every day, you can do this once or twice a year,” she added.
