Riz Ahmed, British actor known for versatile roles in Hollywood.

Four years ago the Relay star won Oscar for Best Live Action Short Film for The Long Goodbye, he now has no idea where the trophy is.

In a conversation with the People magazine, Ahmed shared that his mother keeps the award among her prised possessions.

"I went and handed it straight to my mom. She gets first dibs on any of that stuff," he recalled. "I actually haven't seen it for a while, so I'm hoping she knows where it is, 'cause I don't."

The Reluctant Fundamentalist actor explained that his mother has cleverly hidden it among her belongings.

“She doesn't like me rearranging her stuff. It’s a very kind of elaborate scheme,” he said adding that she wants to protect it from him accidentally throwing it out in a box.

The actor reflected on the deeper meaning of such awards. While he appreciates them as “token of encouragement and affirmation,” he views external validation as fleeting.

The marked a milestone for Ahmed, who has since continued collaborating with filmmaker Aneil Karia.

Their last project, an adaptation of Shakespeare’s Hamlet, the first with a non-white lead in cinema history, is now theatres.

Ahmed is also starring Prime Video series Bait and has an upcoming role in Digger alongside Tom Cruise, set for release in October 2026.
