Maya Hawke has landed her first major TV role since saying goodbye to Stranger Things, stepping into a chilling new Netflix drama that is already generating serious buzz in Hollywood.

The 27-year-old actress, best known for playing fan-favourite Robin Buckley in the hit sci-fi series, will star alongside Kerry Condon in The God of the Woods, an atmospheric new mystery based on Liz Moore’s bestselling novel.

Maya takes on the role of Judy Luptack, a trailblazing investigator and the first woman to work within the male-dominated Bureau of Criminal Investigation.

Her character is thrown into a disturbing case when a 13-year-old girl vanishes from a remote summer camp, sparking a tense and emotional search that unearths long-buried secrets.

Condon plays Alice Van Laar, the missing girl’s mother, a woman caught in the centre of a nightmare as her privileged family begins to unravel under pressure.

The series is co-led by Liz Moore and Liz Hannah, who are serving as co-showrunners, writers and executive producers.

In a joint statement, they said they are “excited to bring The God of the Woods to life” and hope audiences will “fall in love (and hate) with these characters”.

Netflix has not yet confirmed a release date, but has teased a gripping multigenerational drama set in the Adirondacks, where wealth, power and dark family secrets collide following a second disappearance linked to an earlier tragedy.

Maya, who spent six years on Stranger Things across its later seasons, has a busy slate ahead with films including Wishful Thinking, One Night Only and The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping.

But this new project marks her first big TV announcement since the Stranger Things finale aired on December 31, 2025, and fans are already counting down for more.
