King Charles may face a steep increase in the £3 million-a-year he personally pays to fund Prince Andrew’s private security, following his brother’s eviction from Royal Lodge.

The disgraced royal, now known as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, will soon relocate to a private home on the Sandringham Estate, where maintaining constant protection could prove far more complex and costly than at heavily guarded Windsor.

Charles began covering his brother’s private security in 2019, shortly after Andrew’s disastrous BBC Newsnight interview about his friendship with Jeffrey Epstein, which forced him to step back from royal duties.

His police protection was immediately withdrawn and replaced with a privately funded security team, reportedly armed only with tasers.

Sources told The Times that the King’s financial support for Andrew continues to come from the Duchy of Lancaster’s private income, estimated at £24 million annually.
