Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie will keep their royal titles, despite their father, Prince Andrew, being formally stripped of all his own styles and honours by King Charles III.

The bombshell announcement from Buckingham Palace confirmed Andrew will now be known simply as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, marking his complete removal from royal life.

However, the King’s nieces will remain Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice of York and Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie of York, thanks to a historic royal decree issued over a century ago.

Under the 1917 Letters Patent introduced by King George V, princely titles automatically extend to the children of the sons of a sovereign.

As male-line grandchildren of the late Queen Elizabeth II, Beatrice and Eugenie’s titles are legally protected, and cannot be revoked without rewriting royal law.

A royal insider told The Daily Express: “Beatrice and Eugenie have done nothing wrong, they remain blood princesses and will not lose their titles.”
