Meghan Markle reportedly had a simple three-word request for staff when it came to how she should be addressed, and it’s surprisingly traditional.
While preparing for the Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025, CEO Scott Moore revealed that he had asked ahead of the couple’s visit how to properly greet the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
“I did make sure to ask how I should be addressing them when they get here,” Moore told the Daily Mail. “I was told the simple ‘Sir’ and *‘Ma’am is fine.’”
The exchange took place as the couple began coordinating with the team behind the first-ever winter edition of the Invictus Games.
Traditionally, members of the Royal Family are greeted as “Your Royal Highness” before being referred to as “Sir” or “Ma’am,” but Harry and Meghan’s relaxed preference reflects their modern approach since leaving royal life.
Though they no longer serve as working royals, the Duke and Duchess still technically retain their HRH titles, but agreed not to use them for commercial purposes.
