Prince Harry’s aide shuts down rumours his HIV film was targeting Donald Trump

Prince Harry’s aides have pushed back on claims that the Duke of Sussex used his latest HIV awareness campaign as a veiled jab at Donald Trump.

The 41-year-old royal recently fronted a powerful short film alongside Charlize Theron and Magic Johnson, warning that millions of lives are at risk due to drastic cuts in international HIV/AIDS funding.

While Harry’s remarks closely mirrored data tied to American funding programs, including PEPFAR (the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief), his spokesperson insisted the message was not directed at any one leader.

“The film was not explicitly aimed at any individual,” his rep told Newsweek

“It was about reminding all leaders that there is still urgent work to do in the fight against HIV/AIDS.”

In the video, Harry cautioned: “Without urgent action to reverse these crippling cuts, six million more people will become infected with HIV, while four million will die from AIDS-related causes in the next four years.”

UNAIDS confirmed the figures are based on the potential fallout from U.S. funding reductions.

Although PEPFAR remains active under the US State Department, global HIV programs have already reported “sudden, drastic” shortfalls in 2025.
