Princess Anne has once again proven why she’s known as the hardest-working royal, but insiders say Buckingham Palace is struggling to keep up.
According to royal commentator Richard Eden, staff are under pressure to match the Princess Royal’s incredible workload of nearly 500 official engagements a year.
Eden revealed in the Daily Mail that just two years after recruiting a programme manager, the Palace is already advertising for another, this time offering a higher salary of £38,000, up from £32,500.
The move underscores how demanding Anne’s schedule has become, especially compared to her brother, King Charles, whose 372 engagements last year were reduced by ongoing cancer treatment.
Now 75, Anne shows no signs of slowing down. Insiders told The Times that she plans to continue at her current pace until 80, before gradually “winding down” in her 90s, mirroring the late Prince Philip’s approach.
The Princess herself has previously brushed off the idea of retirement, telling reporters during a visit to South Africa: “It really isn’t written in… it isn’t really an option, no, I don’t think so.”
