The 2025 Emmys might have missed a few nominations this year as critics say this might be the best year for TV shows.

This year's new series are pulling unusually high Rotten Tomatoes scores, with multiple releases and casting fan favourite actors. A 90% score signals broad critical approval and time well spent watching the episodes.

From the biggest Emmy winner to Marvel making a comeback with their animated superheroes, you might find it fascinating which shows made it to the list and which didn’t, and unfortunately, The Bear isn’t on the list.

Here is the list of eight TV shows that pulled in a 90% or higher score from the critics and audience.

1. Eyes of Wakanda (92%)

The Studio won Seth his first-ever Emmy for Outstanding Lead.

5. Alien: Earth (96%)

It is hardly believable that a science fiction show about aliens has a higher score than two Emmy-winning series, but it is part of a multi-million-dollar franchise.

Alien: Earth is set in an alternate timeline and takes place two years before the events of the original 1979 film. Directed by Noah Hawley, each episode of the horror series pulls in 9.2 million global views.

6. Your Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man (97%)

Marvel is back with another higher score on its ‘What if’ story set in another timeline. Voiced by Hudson Thames, this Spider-Man has a long way to go as he has just found out about his powers.

The show uses a 3D cel-shaded animation style, which pays homage to the early art of the original Amazing Spider-Man comics.

Played by Owen Cooper, who also marked his first time acting in a lead role, the 15-year-old kid delivered an Emmy-worthy performance and went home with the youngest male Supporting Actor award.

8. The Narrow Road to the Deep North (100%)

It’s wild to think that Rotten Tomatoes would give a full score to a show, let alone a film. But The Narrow Road to the Deep North is a British limited series that achieved that milestone.

It is based on the Booker Prize-winning novel by Richard Flanagan, which follows the life of Dorrigo Evans, a WWII army surgeon and prisoner of war.

Portrayed by Jacob Elordi and Ciaran Hinds in different periods of time, the series juxtaposes Dorrigo’s brutal experiences in the POW camp with the memory of his secret affair.
