Conan O’Brien spoke out about Jimmy Kimmel Live! being pulled after the host’s political remarks.
On Wednesday, Sept. 17, an ABC spokesperson confirmed that Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night show was being pulled from the network indefinitely.
The decision was based on remarks the host made in his Sept. 15 monologue about Charlie Kirk, the right-wing commentator who was shot and killed on Sept. 10 at age 31.
Sharing a statement to social media on Friday, Sept. 19, O'Brien wrote words of support for Kimmel.
"The suspension of @jimmykimmel and the promise to silence other late-night hosts for criticizing the administration should disturb everyone on the Right, Left, and Center," he wrote. "It's wrong and anyone with a conscience knows it's wrong."
While O'Brien isn’t hosting a late-night show at the moment, he previously led Late Night on NBC from 1993 to 2009, followed by The Tonight Show from 2009 to 2010. He later fronted his self-titled series Conan on TBS, which ran from 2010 to 2021.
