Batman fans will have to wait even longer to see Robert Pattinson back beneath the famous cowl after The Batman Part II was hit with another major delay.

Warner Bros. has pushed the highly anticipated sequel back to February, 18, 2028, meaning nearly six years will have passed since The Batman first wowed audiences in March 2022.

The film had already slipped from its original October 2026 release to October 2027 before suffering its latest setback.

Director Matt Reeves confirmed the new release date while also treating fans to the first camera test footage of Pattinson back in costume, offering a glimpse of what is still to come despite the lengthy wait.

Plot details remain tightly under wraps, but the sequel is expected to feature an impressive cast including Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Charles Dance, Brian Tyree Henry and Sebastian Koch.

Reeves has once again teamed up with writer Mattson Tomlin to pen the screenplay.

The latest delay comes as DC Studios continues reshaping its future under co-chief James Gunn.

When the previous postponement sparked frustration, Gunn defended the lengthy gap, pointing out that blockbuster sequels such as Avatar, Top Gun and The Incredibles also took years to return to the big screen.

Pattinson's darker, detective-led take on Bruce Wayne earned widespread praise and helped establish a standalone Batman universe separate from the wider DC franchise, making expectations for the sequel even higher.

Warner Bros. has also reshuffled several other releases, with J.J. Abrams' mystery film The Great Beyond moving to October 2027, while Sam Esmail's thriller Panic Carefully has shifted to April 2027.
