'Adolescence' star Owen Cooper bags historic win at Emmys 2025

Owen Cooper, who is known for his role in drama Adolescence, finally succeeded in making history as he bagged an Emmy award.

Although the 15-year-old was globally applauded for his spectacular acting in a one-shot series, Owen is now the youngest winner in the category supporting actor.

The story of the critically acclaimed show revolves around a teenage boy Jamie, portrayed by the star, who is accused of killing a girl.

Stephen Graham, the co-creator of the limited series, takes the role of his father.

During his speech, the Wuthering Heights star admitted he never expected to be “in the United States” as he started “these drama classes a couple years back.”

It was earlier revealed by Stephen that more than 500 boys auditioned to play Jamie before it went to finally went to Owen.

He competed against Rob Delaney (Dying for Sex), Peter Sarsgaard (Presumed Innocent), Javier Bardem (Monsters: The Lyle And Erik Menendez Story), Bill Camp (Presumed Innocent) and Ashely Walters (Adolescence).

While the win shocked the rising actor, it was widely predicted that Owen would be awarded in the category supporting actor in a limited series/movie.

Where is Emmys 2025 being held?

The prestigious award ceremony, acknowledging the best TV shows that aired from June 2024 to May 2025, ceremony is being held in Los Angeles.
