James Gunn recently revealed that an important character from his Superman vision will return for the highly anticipated sequel.

The 59-year-old director answered a fan on Threads who asked if Rachel Brosnahan would return in the second instalment as Lois Lane, the love interest of Clark Kent.

James answered simply, “She’s important.”

The casting update has been added to a growing list of details that the filmmaker has released in the past few weeks.

Previously, in a conversation with Howard Stern on SiriusXM, the DC co-CEO admitted that Superman: Man of Tomorrow will follow a team-up between the titular character and his nemesis, Lex Luthor, to fight a much bigger threat.

He said, “It’s more complicated than that, but that’s a big part of it. I just love the script so much.”

Though more details haven’t been revealed about who will portray the main villain, the returning cast includes David Corenswet, Nicholas Hoult, and Rachel Brosnahan.

Some netizens are also debating if we’ll see Milly Alcock’s Supergirl or the Justice Gang again, who made cameo appearances in Superman, opening up James Gunn’s vision of the new DC universe.

As of now, the movie is in early pre-production as James is busy with a two-year lineup of blockbusters.

When did James Gunn become CEO of DC?

James Gunn became co-CEO with Peter Safran on October 25, 2022. The appointment was part of the newly created Discovery within Warner Bros, which oversees all DC properties in film and television.
