The popular Hollywood best friends Matt Damon and Ben Affleck are channelling their friendship into Netflix’s new crime thriller, The Rip.
In the trailer, the duo are seen flaunting their cop chops as Miami narcotics officers in the new movie, written and directed by Joe Carnahan (Narc, Smokin’ Aces).
Other stars joining Matt and Ben are Steven Yeun, Kyle Chandler, Teyana Taylor, Catalina Sandino Moreno, and Sasha Calle. The thriller will be produced by Artists Equity, the artist-led studio that Matt and Ben founded in 2022.
Carnahan, the director, speaking about his experience working with the pair, told Tudum: “Working with Matt and Ben and having two distinctly talented filmmakers, as both creative allies and the studio heads, wound up being the best of both worlds.”
“I've never had as easy an experience on a movie as I had on The Rip,” he added. “They took exceptionally good care of me and backed my decisions every step of the way.”
Based on real events, The Rip follows a group of Miami cops who uncover millions in cash during a stash house raid. The shocking discovery sets off a chain reaction, straining loyalties as word of the fortune spreads.
The Rip will be released globally on Netflix on January 16, 2026.
