Jimmy Kimmel and Stephen Colbert have been quite outspoken about their dislike for President Donald Trump, and now they are also vocalising their feelings about the shooting of one of the politician’s most prominent allies, Charlie Kirk.
The late-night hosts both issued separate statements discussing the shocking occurrence, condemning in their respective statements the heinous act despite their political differences with the now-deceased 31-year-old.
In a statement on his Instagram the Jimmy Kimmel Live! host wrote, “Instead of the angry finger-pointing, can we just for one day agree that it is horrible and monstrous to shoot another human?” adding that he is sending love to all the victims of “senseless gun violence.”
Meanwhile Colbert’s remarks came in the form of a pre-taped segment of The Late Show, before the opening credits.
The 61-year-old appeared grave as he greeted viewers and then restated the incident that had taken place in Utah, he then noted that he remembered the political violence of the 1960, adding that it does not solve any differences.
“Political violence only leads to more political violence. And I pray with all my heart that this is the aberrant action of a madman and not a sign of things to come,” he said, before announcing that the show would proceed as scheduled.
Notably, the shooter responsible for Charlie’s death has not yet been identified, after the person shot him in front of a crowd in a Utah university.
Yes, Trump confirmed the news on his social media platform writing, “The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead,” adding that the late supporter was loved and admired by all, especially the President himself.
