James Gunn, the mastermind behind Peacemaker and Guardians of the Galaxy, is officially gearing up to start filming Superman’s sequel.

The 59-year-old DCU chief appeared on The Howard Stern Show to spill the latest scoop on the highly anticipated follow-up.

“I’m done writing that for the most part,” Gunn revealed, hinting that fans are in for a wild ride.

Warner Bros. Discovery confirmed that shooting will start in April 2026, with the film hitting theaters on July 9, 2027.

This follows the record-breaking first installment, which pulled in over $611 million worldwide in 2025.

The movie promises a fresh twist, with Nicholas Hoult’s Lex Luthor and David Corenswet’s Superman having to team up.

“It’s as much a Lex movie as it is a Superman movie. I relate to the character of Lex, sadly,” the filmmaker teased.

Before Superman returns, 2026 promises a DC-packed lineup with Supergirl and the body-horror Clayface, while The Batman Part II is set for October 1, 2027.

From Christopher Reeve to today’s DCU, Superman continues to soar through decades of reboots, series, and films.

With Gunn at the helm, Man of Tomorrow promises to deliver action, drama, and a compelling Lex Luthor.
