Channing Tatum looked back at the one role that got away, offered to him by Guillermo del Toro, but there’s an unusual detail about the snub.
The Magic Mike actor discussed that he was asked to play the beast in the director’s version of the classic called The Beauty and the Beast.
In an interview with Vanity Fair, the 45-year-old stated, “One of the biggest mistakes of my career: Guillermo del Toro wanted to do ‘Beauty and the Beast,’ his version of the Beast.”
“And I’d just had a baby, I was on a movie that was absolutely killing me, and the script wasn’t totally there yet. I was just in a place in my head that I was like, ‘I don’t think I can do this right now.’ It was the biggest mistake, because I’m the biggest Guillermo fan ever,” he continued.
Tatum’s regret seems oddly placed though, since the script never made it to the big screens, and it appears that the project has been held off.
Notably, the 21 Jump Street actor is still hopeful that he will get to work with the Frankenstein filmmaker sometime in the future.
Tatum is dating an Australian model, Inka Williams and has even wished her on her 26th birthday on his social media on September 9.
