‘The Late Show With Stephen Colbert’ wins big after surprise move

The Late Show With Stephen Colbert’s shocking cancellation news had rocked the late night interview world months ago and the show has just proven its enemies wrong by securing its first-ever Emmy.

Stephen Colbert’s show had become infamous for being the second-most nominated television series in the running for the prestigious award without winning, but the losing streak is over now.

On Sunday, the long-airing program bagged outstanding directing for a variety series for Jim Hoskinson for the episode, “David Oyelowo, Finn Wolfhard, Special Apperance by Alan Cumming, Performance By Ok Go.”

This is not the only Emmy the cancelled show is nominated for this year, and there is still a chance for it to take home its second award in the last year before it says goodbye to its fans.

The Late Show With Stephen Colbert is also nominated for the Outstanding Talk Series against The Daily Show and Jimmy Kimmel Live!, for the Primetime Emmys taking place next week.

It is important to note that the chances of Colbert’s sweep are high, since Kimmel proudly told his supporters to vote for the show that is nearing its end, since he would be doing the same.

Why is Stephen Cobert’s late night show ending?

Colbert’s show ending is linked to politics, with the United Stated President Donald Trump being exposed by the 61-year-old, which later lead the politician to remark that Kimmel’s cancellation was next in line.
