Cillian Murphy expresses relief after parting ways with Christopher Nolan

Cillian Murphy and Christopher Nolan’s collaborations are famous since the two have repeatedly created cinema magic together, so the former's remark came as a surprise.

A look at either’s discography is proof enough that the Interstellar filmmaker and the Peaky Blinders actor have cemented their partnership, but the 49-year-old seems glad to not be working with the two-time Academy Award winning director.

In an interview at Variety’s Toronto Film Festival studio, the Irish actor was asked if he had seen the trailer for the screenwriter’s 2026 The Odyssey.

“Is there a trailer?” he asked, clearly indicating that he was in the dark about it before adding, “I have ROMO, ‘Relief of missing out.’”

Cillian then clarified that he was only kidding, “No, I can’t wait to see it. If any director in the world could tackle ‘The Odyssey,’ it’s going to be Christopher Nolan. I am so excited to see it. He is one in a million. He’s been a huge part of my life as an actor.”

Notably, the upcoming historical epic adaptation has Matt Damon and Tom Holland as the lead roles of Odysseus and his son respectively.

When is the 'The Odyssey' scheduled to be released?

The Odyssey’s trailer is currently screening exclusively in theatres and the film is scheduled for release on July 17, 2026.
