James Gunn's DC Studios unveiled a new logo and set photos for its first-ever reboot villain movie, sparking reactions from fans.
On August 31, the official X (formerly known as Twitter) account of the studios released a clapperboard, which revealed that the villain movie, Clayface, had begun production.
They captioned the post, “The official clapperboard for ‘CLAYFACE’. Directed by James Watkins. Releasing Sept. 11, 2026. Now filming.”
Similarly, over the next few days, pictures from the set were released, which depicted cast and crew members dressed in costumes.
Netizens rushed to the comment section to express their excitement about the new, highly anticipated villain movie. One fan wrote, “Better than any MCU clapperboard.” Another well-wisher penned, “Cool logo, I like its look dope."
Notably, Clayface's synopsis is described as a body horror origin story where an aspiring handsome actor, played by Tom Rhys Harries, is disfigured by gangsters.
Directed by James Watkins and written by Mike Flanagan, the cast includes Eddie Marsan, Max Minghella, and Naomi Ackie.
The feature will be released theatrically on September 11, 2026, following the next instalment of Superman and leading up to Batman II.
Clayface began production in Liverpool on 31 August 2025. The grey-skied city was transformed into Gotham City to give an edgy, dark aesthetic.
