Wednesday Season 2 explored even more bizarre characters with Slurp the zombie and Christopher Lloyd’s Professor Orloff.

But the VFX and prosthetics team know the real struggle of bringing the zombie and other strange creations to the Netflix series.

According to prosthetics designer Tristan Verslius, one of the toughest challenges was creating the zombie Slurp. Revived by Pugsley, Slurp (played by Owen Painter) survives by eating human brains.

And in episode six, Woe Thyself (spoiler alert), it’s revealed that he’s actually Isaac Night — Tyler Galpin’s uncle — determined to cure Tyler’s mother of her Hyde.

“Very early on, when the first drafts of the script were being made, there was a conversation about Slurp needing to be a practical actor in makeup,” Verslius told THR. “So we started off by trying lots of zombie designs.”

The designer researched different types of zombies and tried to create a unique one that was “both enhanced and part of the world of Wednesday and Nevermore and the showrunners’ visions.”

Verslius noted that they landed on the zombie’s design “with guidance from Tim [Burton] and the sketches and edits to some of our designs.”

The designer also explained the protocols they followed after Zombie Slurp came to life as Isaac Night.

“When the actor [Painter] was confirmed, we took that design and applied it to him, as it were, on Owen’s face and body,” he said. “Then we started going stage by stage, really. We made stage one first and we tried to figure out how to get to stage three, and what stage two was and how that journey takes place.”
